Myrtle Beach is one of my favorite places to visit! It is one of the most visited beach towns in the country for a reason. They have beautiful beaches, plenty of shopping and dining, and dozens of entertainment options. There is something in Myrtle Beach for everyone in your family to enjoy!

Is Myrtle Beach a good family vacation destination?

Myrtle Beach is a great place for a family vacation!  If the beach isn’t enough, they also have activities for toddlers like mini-golf and trampoline parks, an aquarium, and even an amusement park! They also have annual events like holiday parades and a KidzTime Festival that are enjoyable and very family-friendly.

Myrtle Beach has dozens of great places to stay with toddlers, ranging from resorts to condos to Airbnbs.  If easy access to the beach is important to you, Sun & Sand Resort is a kid-friendly oceanfront hotel with beach access. They have an outdoor pool as well as an indoor pool, so your kids can still swim even if it rains. The Breakers Resort is another great resort to stay in with your toddlers. 

Not only is there easy beach access, but they also have their own indoor and outdoor beachfront water parks, so your kids will stay entertained no matter what the weather is like. They also have a lazy river and a sunken pirate ship. South Bay Inn & Suites is another fun, kid-friendly place to stay. They have a brand new indoor water park with all sorts of features for toddlers, like spill buckets.

If you would rather stay in a house than a resort, Caribbean Cove 504 is highly rated on VRBO for families with kids, and they are within walking distance from the beach, boardwalk, pier, Family Kingdom, and Splashes Water Park. If you stay in this home, you will also have access to a shared pool. This home sleeps 10, making it great for large groups or for families who just want to spread out.

State Parks

Did you know that Myrtle Beach is home to two state parks? These parks have hiking trails, nature centers, fishing piers, and even a historic castle. 

Pelican’s Baseball Game

Your kids will also enjoy going to a Pelicans baseball game! Even if they are too young to be interested in baseball, the field has a playground, a fun zone, scheduled fireworks shows, and kids can even run the bases after the game. It’s a fun activity for older kids too!

Mini Golf

Mini golf is a must for every beach trip, especially with toddlers. All you have to do is drive around for a few minutes, and you’re sure to find a fun, themed mini-golf. It’s the quintessential thing to do when visiting a beach town like Myrtle Beach.

Broadway Grand Prix

If you want an all-in-one fun stop, you have to head to Broadway Grand Prix. They have seven go-kart tracks, including one that is toddler-friendly, bumper boats, mini-golf, and a large indoor arcade.

Skywheel Myrtle Beach

The Skywheel is an attraction that is fun for the whole family. It is a Ferris wheel with a beautiful view from the top. You can even upgrade your tickets to VIP passes and enjoy your ride in a luxury gondola.

Family Kingdom

If you’re looking for some fun things to do in Myrtle Beach with kids of all ages this amusement park has 38 rides! They have a section of the park called Kiddieland that is perfect for toddlers. They have rides like swings and a kiddie speedway. Visiting this park is an exciting addition to your vacation!

As with any beach, the weather in Myrtle Beach can be unpredictable. Here are a few options for indoor activities on rainy days. 

Pirates Voyage

This dinner show is exciting for the whole family. You will help the pirate crews in battle on land, on deck, and in water. The show even showcases mermaids and tropical birds. This engaging show is great for toddlers, and kids under 3 are free making it one of our favorite indoor things to do in Myrtle Beach!

Ripley’s Aquarium

Aquariums are always fun to visit on vacation! This one also does special events for kids throughout the year, such as Pancakes & Penguins and Breakfast with a Mermaid. Check their website to see which events will be happening during your trip to Myrtle Beach.

Wonderworks

This is a great attraction that is full of educational experiences for kids, and even some directly geared towards toddlers.  There are six “wonder zones” full of fun family activities. Toddlers always love the light and sound zone. It’s a great, immersive sensory experience.

Medieval Times

This dinner show is engaging for the whole family! You will get assigned to a certain color “knight” to cheer for, and your whole family will get paper crowns to wear. Your toddler will love cheering on their knight!

Ripley’s Believe it or Not

If you are interested in oddities this is a must for your things-to-do list! This isn’t your typical museum! Your toddlers will love to play with the life-size light wall. They will also love to see all of the crazy, bizarre things inside, like shrunken heads!

Family Kingdom, Alligator Adventure, and the Sky Wheel are all fun outdoor activities in Myrtle Beach, but there are also several other options.

T.I.G.E.R.S. Myrtle Beach Safari

This outdoor safari will let your toddler see over 150 endangered animals, including big cats, apes, wolves, elephants, and more. You will participate in a customized three-hour tour. It’s a great outdoor activity for when the weather is beautiful but you’ve had enough of sand eating for the day.

Brookgreen Gardens

These gardens are a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors and let your toddler play. They also have activities each day, such as the Enchanted Storybook Forest and the Children’s Sensory and Nature Trail.

Myrtle Waves Water Park

If you’re looking for something to do in Myrtle Beach that involves water play check out Myrtle Waves Water Park. The kid's area at this water park is great for toddlers. They have an area called Bubble Bay designed especially for toddlers and is reserved for children 45” and under.

Pavilion Nostalgia Park

This outdoor mini amusement park has toddler-friendly attractions. Your kids will love the Pipeline Slide!

L.W. Paul Living History Farm

This farm will give your kids a taste of the past. They also offer special children's programs. Your toddler will love the interactive displays and activities.

Broadway Grand Prix

This one is technically both indoors and outdoors, but they have a great outdoor, toddler-friendly go-kart track. They have plenty of other toddler-friendly activities.

Free & Cheap Things to Do in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach can still be a fun place to visit if you are on a budget! These are some of my favorite free things to do as well as cheap activities.

The Beach

Okay, I know this is obvious, but the beaches here are beautiful, and they are completely free! There are so many things that you can do on the beach with your toddler. Play games, build a sandcastle, hunt for shells. All of them are free!

Socastee Recreational Park

This park has a playground that is perfect for toddlers to burn off some of their energy. They even offer fun seasonal events for kids throughout the year, like pumpkin hunts and adventure camps.

Broadway at the Beach

This outdoor complex is full of fun things to do including shops and restaurants. It is free to explore and they often have free live entertainment. During the summer, they have The Great American Summer Nights where stilt walkers, fire dancers, famous character meetings, and more are there for entertainment. This complex also has a toddler-friendly playground and several kid-friendly restaurants.

North Myrtle Beach Park

During the summer, there is live, family-friendly music each night at the amphitheater. Bring a blanket and grab a seat on the lawn.

The Market Common

During the summer, there are many free events here! They do movies under the stars, free carriage rides on Tuesdays, and concerts on the green. 

Miniature Golf

This is a fun activity that you can do on a budget. Children under 3 are free at most locations, and be sure to check out local coupon books. Groupon also usually has deals just input Myrtle Beach, SC in the location box and select the things to do category. 

Splashes Oceanfront Water Park

You can get a great deal on a day pass for this water park. There are also often coupons available in local coupon books.

Pavilion Nostalgia Park

There is no charge to enter this park. It is a precious little miniature theme park with classic rides like the carousel, the teacups, and the wave runner. You and your family will also enjoy the classic carnival-style foods!

Toddler-Friendly Restaurants In Myrtle Beach, SC

There are so many amazing, kid-friendly restaurants in Myrtle Beach, but I’ll tell you a few of my favorites.

Lucy Buffet’s Lulu’s

This restaurant is delicious, fun, and kid-friendly. They have live music and a beautiful ocean view. The Barefoot Landing playground is right outside of this restaurant which is very helpful if you have to wait for a table. The restaurant also has spaces for kids to play.

Crooked Hammock Brewery

I know that it sounds ironic to say that a brewery is kid-friendly, but this one is geared towards families. They have a huge “backyard” with a playground and games like cornhole and ping pong. They also have a kid's menu with foods that toddlers will love, like mac & cheese and chicken tenders.

Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville

This waterfront restaurant is a treat for the whole family! Your toddler will love the stilt walkers and balloon hats. They’ll also love to watch the “volcano” erupt! The food is delicious and the portions are large enough to share. They often have live music, too.

River City Cafe

Your toddlers will love this place! Not only for their tasty burgers but also because they get to throw their peanut shells on the ground and color on the tablecloth. What toddler doesn’t love a dinner with things to do while they wait for their food! 

Sugar Life Candy

While this isn’t technically a restaurant, it is a “can’t miss” in Myrtle Beach. Your toddlers will love this colorful ice cream and candy bar!
